Emergency tarp secured over tree damage on a Metro Atlanta roof

When you need an emergency tarp

  • A tree or large limb hit the roof and punctured or cracked the decking
  • Wind tore off shingles and left bare decking or underlayment exposed
  • Water is coming in and the permanent repair can’t happen right away
  • You’re waiting on insurance and need the roof protected in the meantime

A tarp isn’t a repair. It’s a temporary barrier that stops more water from getting in until your roof can be fixed properly.

How our emergency tarping works

1. Call 404-474-4222. Tell us what happened and where the damage is. We answer 24/7.

2. We secure the damaged area. Our crew covers the damage with a heavy-duty tarp sized to extend past the damaged area, fastened and sealed so wind and rain can’t get under it.

3. We document everything. You get photos of the damage before and after the tarp goes on, which helps if you file an insurance claim.

4. We plan the permanent fix. Once it’s safe, we inspect the roof and tell you honestly whether it needs a repair or a replacement. See our Emergency Repair and Storm Damage pages for next steps.

Emergency tarping FAQs

How long can a tarp stay on my roof?

A tarp is meant to be temporary. Sun and wind wear tarps down, so the sooner the permanent repair happens, the better.

Will my insurance pay for emergency tarping?

Many homeowner policies cover reasonable steps to prevent further damage, which often includes tarping. Check your policy, and keep the receipt and photos. We provide both.

Should I put a tarp on myself?

We don’t recommend climbing on a wet or damaged roof. If you can do it safely from the ground or inside, move belongings away from the leak and catch water with buckets until we arrive.

Do you tarp at night or in bad weather?

Call us any time. If conditions aren’t safe to work on the roof, we’ll tell you and get there as soon as they are.
